Playroom Loft
We also customized our beds to create a Playroom Loft. The
Playroom Loft is a great way to create a nice play and reading area for your
child. Once your child outgrows the Playroom Loft, it can easily be
converted to a regular Loft by placing a mattress on the platform. With a Playroom Loft, we extend the legs to make the
safety rails go 30" above the platform area and we
add additional bracing for the safety rails (see diagram below). We
typically set the platform height to have roughly 44" underneath.
A nice option for younger children is to make the Playroom
Loft by using a bunk bed. Your child can sleep on the bottom bunk and use
the top for a play area. Once your child is ready to sleep on top, you can
remove the bottom bunk and make it into a loft bed.
We optionally also provide a plywood platform. The
platform is 1/2" plywood and comes in 4-5 sections which are screwed to the
bed slats. You can also provide your own plywood platform. To finish
off the platform we recommend you place carpeting on top of the plywood to make
a soft play floor area.
To order a Playroom Loft, you need to first select the loft
or bunk bed and then go to our accessories page to add the
Playroom Loft Kit to your shopping cart. You may use
any loft or bunk bed with any options you need.
When you order your loft or bunk bed you need to select
the following options:
- select the standard Dorm Use Bed with one safety rail on
the front side only
- select the Extra Tall 85" Legs
- select the Enhanced Solid 2x6 Back Rail
After we receive your order will will contact you to review
the specifications before we build your bed.
